Who we are

Turin is the largest Jewish community in Piedmont and the fourth largest in Italy. It is composed of approximately 800 people and over the years has absorbed the communities of Acqui Terme, Alessandria, Asti, Carmagnola, Cherasco, Chieri, Cuneo, Fossano, Ivrea, Mondovì, Nizza Monferrato, and Saluzzo.
The Jewish Community of Turin is governed by a Council elected by its members, which is renewed every four years.
The “Colonna e Finzi” Preschool and Primary School and the “Emanuele Artom” Middle School, both private, are managed by the Community. The “Salomon e Augusto Segre” Retirement Home, a facility for elderly residents who are totally or partially dependent, is open to both members and non-members of the Jewish Community of Turin.

THE COUNCIL OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF TURIN

The Community’s governing bodies are the Assembly, the Council, the Executive Committee, the President, the Chief Rabbi, and the Auditors.
The 13 councilors serve a four-year term and may be re-elected for no more than two consecutive terms.

Rabbinical Office

The Rabbinical Office is the religious and spiritual reference point for the Jewish community of Turin.
It plays a central role in community life, offering assistance, guidance, and services in accordance with Jewish tradition.

Community Sections

Each Jewish community, such as Turin, may establish sections in localities within its jurisdiction other than the community’s headquarters, where there are members who express an interest in organizing themselves, or where Jewish cultural assets such as synagogues, oratories, places of worship, or cemeteries are located.

Schools

The Jewish schools of Turin: the “Colonna e Finzi” Preschool and Primary School and the “Emanuele Artom” Middle School are the schools of the Jewish Community of Turin. They are open to both Jewish and non-Jewish students.

The Salomon and Augusto Segre Retirement Home

The “Salomon and Augusto Segre” Retirement Home is a care facility for elderly residents who are totally or partially dependent on their own resources. Members and non-members of the Jewish Community of Turin are welcome to attend, as it serves as a Territorial Reception Center.
