“E. ARTOM” Library
The library’s history dates back to the 16th century. At the end of the 19th century, the library possessed a significant collection of valuable volumes thanks to the bequests of Rabbis Lelio Cantoni and Samuel Ghiron. Unfortunately, during World War II, the library was destroyed by Nazi-Fascist raids and the bombing of November 19, 1942. After 1945, some of these lost volumes were recovered, and from then on, the systematic acquisition of volumes on Jewish history, culture, and religion was undertaken, along with volumes on the Holocaust and the State of Israel. It holds over 13,000 volumes and approximately 50 journals catalogued in the National Library Service (SBN) and searchable in Librinlinea. It also contains approximately 3,000 pamphlets not yet included in a database, and approximately 3,000 ancient and modern volumes in Hebrew currently being added to another database.
