Chieri

News of the first settlements of a Jewish group in Chieri date back to the 15th century. They settled here fleeing from France and mainly engaged in money lending and the textile industry. In 1724, the ghetto was established in Via della Pace, where 12 families were confined. The synagogue was located inside; its splendid Baroque furnishings, excellently restored, are now in the small temple of the Jewish Community of Turin.
In Chieri, there have been three Jewish cemeteries. Two are still preserved and can be visited.
